Mr Edward Ridyard is a multi award-winning Ophthalmologist specialising in all aspects of medical and surgical Glaucoma as well as Complex Cataract Surgery. He is also qualified to treat all types of General Ophthalmic conditions.
Mr Ridyard holds a substantive Consultant post at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Leeds.
Graduating with Honours from the University of Manchester Medical School he received the JHG Holt Prize for exceptional academic performance. He went on to complete his subspecialty training in Glaucoma at Europe’s largest teaching hospital, St James University Hospital in Leeds.
A cataract is cloudiness in the eye’s lens, causing progressively blurred vision as the condition worsens over time.
Glaucoma damages the optic nerve, causing gradual vision field loss and potentially severe impairment if left untreated.
Dry Eye Disease arises when insufficient or rapidly evaporating tears cause discomfort and potential vision issues due to inadequate eye lubrication.
